The Republican candidate is planning to make the billionaire his “secretary of cost-cutting”

Former US President and Republican contender Donald Trump has announced plans to establish a new office dedicated to SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk if he secures victory in the upcoming November election.

During an appearance on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures, Trump praised Musk as a “great business guy” and a “great cost-cutter,” hinting at a potential role for him in the White House.

“You think of him for science and rockets and every time he’s telling me about a new screw that was developed. He’s developed a new screw. Screws are difficult and it’s made out of titanium and it’s so exciting,” Trump remarked.

“We’ll have a new position: secretary of cost-cutting. Elon wants to do that, and we have incredible people. He’s running a big business,” he continued, emphasizing that Musk has already expressed interest in such a position.

Trump also discussed Musk’s ambitious plans for space exploration, noting that the billionaire had assured him he would “get to Mars before the end of my administration, which will be long before, hopefully, China or Russia.”

Musk has been a vocal supporter of Trump, consistently making strong statements backing the Republican candidate. Earlier this month, he made a surprise appearance at a Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, during which he declared the November election “the most important election of our lifetime” and asserted that the opposition “wants to take away your freedom of speech.”

In a separate remark, Musk criticized fellow billionaires who are backing Vice President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, suggesting they were “terrified” of a potential Trump victory, especially since many of them might be connected to the Jeffrey Epstein client list. Trump hinted that if he wins the election, he could make Epstein’s “black book” public.
