Netanyahu Issues Warning Regarding Delay in Gaza Ceasefire – Reports
The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is set to commence at 8:30 am local time.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated early Sunday that the ceasefire in Gaza will not take effect until Israel receives a list of hostages that Hamas intends to release, as reported by various media outlets citing a statement from his office. These remarks were made just one hour prior to the planned start of the ceasefire.

In response, Hamas attributed the delay in providing the names to “technical field reasons” and reiterated its dedication to the ceasefire agreement announced the previous week.

Netanyahu also revealed the return of the remains of IDF soldier Oron Shaul, who was killed in Gaza in 2014 and had been in Hamas's possession since then.

“I embrace the dear Shaul family, and congratulate the Shin Bet and IDF forces for their resourcefulness and courage,” Netanyahu stated in a social media message.

He noted that images of Shaul and another deceased soldier, Hadar Goldin, whose body has also been held by Hamas for nearly nine years, are displayed in his office as a constant reminder of his obligation to bring them home.

Netanyahu confirmed that Israel has successfully accomplished the mission to recover Shaul and emphasized that efforts will persist until Goldin is also returned. He reaffirmed Israel's commitment to retrieving all hostages, both living and deceased.

During the initial phase of the truce, which is set to last 42 days, Hamas is required to release 33 hostages in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons. By the end of this phase, all living women, children, and elderly individuals held by the militants are to be freed.
