Elon Musk’s estranged son Xavier, who is transgender and now goes by the name Vivian Jenna Wilson, has moved to Tokyo according to E! News.
The 20-year-old, whose mother is Musk’s first wife, Justine Wilson, is said to be in Japan to study languages with aspirations of becoming a translator. Born in 2004, Xavier is one of five children from Musk’s first marriage, which concluded in divorce in 2008. Xavier began his transition five years ago after coming out as transgender at the age of 16. He adopted his mother’s surname and has expressed a desire to no longer be “related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.”
In an interview with Teen Vogue last week, Wilson indicated that Musk was not part of the decision to move and noted that his experiences with the “wealth gap” in Los Angeles had impacted his choice.
“There is no world in which people should be owning multiple private planes, private islands, private whatever, while other people are sleeping on the street,” Wilson stated.
Wilson further claimed that Musk didn’t “give a f**k,” describing him as a “pathetic man-child” and expressing frustration at being associated with the tech billionaire. They have reportedly not spoken since 2020.
In a related context, last year Musk discussed his son with Canadian psychology professor Dr. Jordan Peterson, asserting that his son had been figuratively killed by “the woke mind virus,” a concept he vowed to “destroy.”
He suggested he had been “tricked into signing documents for one of my older boys, Xavier,” before fully understanding the implications.
Musk has also faced scrutiny regarding Tesla dealerships and vehicles, attributing recent incidents to his role as an adviser to former US President Donald Trump. He has made several posts suggesting a connection between vandalism incidents involving Teslas and the transgender community.
“The probability of a trans person being violent appears to be vastly higher than non-trans. Hormone injections cause extreme emotional volatility,” Musk tweeted on Thursday.
Trump has acted to reverse pro-transgender legislation from the Biden administration, particularly targeting federal support for medical procedures related to gender transitions for individuals under the age of 19.
