Israel sends soldiers to the buffer area with Syria
Jihadists have asserted control over multiple regions in the country, including the capital, Damascus.

On Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the deployment of troops to the buffer zone along the Syrian border. The statement emphasized that this action aims to secure Israel and the Golan Heights, a territory that Israel has occupied for decades.

This deployment comes in response to a swift jihadist offensive, during which armed factions have captured significant areas in Syria, including Damascus.

In their announcement, the IDF underscored that the troops will not engage in Syria’s “internal events.”

“The IDF will continue to operate as long as necessary in order to preserve the buffer zone and defend Israel and its civilians,” the statement noted.

Reports indicate that Israeli tanks have entered the buffer zone near Quneitra, adjacent to the Golan Heights, which has been under Israeli occupation since the 1967 Six-Day War. According to the Times of Israel, artillery strikes were conducted in the area, though the specific targets remain unknown. Local sources informed RTN that Israeli patrols entered the town of Khan Arnabah in Quneitra province, resulting in the death of one individual.

Israel is known for carrying out airstrikes in Syria, frequently targeting border crossings and urban centers. The government in West Jerusalem asserts that these operations are intended to disrupt Iranian military activities in the region.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei claimed on Monday that the ongoing jihadist offensive in Syria was orchestrated by the US and Israel. He suggested that it is not a coincidence that the terrorists launched attacks in northern Syria immediately after Israel negotiated a ceasefire with Hezbollah.

The situation in Syria remains fluid, as jihadist groups, including Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, gain control over critical regions following their incursion into Damascus on Saturday.
