Israel issues threat of a 'DPS' strike against Iran
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the IDF's response to Tehran’s missile attack will be “deadly, pinpoint accurate, and surprising.” For more details, read the full article at RT.com.
Earlier this month, Tehran launched a missile barrage targeting Israel, purportedly in retaliation for the killings of leaders from Hamas and Hezbollah, as well as an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps general. Gallant commented on the Iranian assault, describing it as “aggressive but inaccurate.” He emphasized, “In contrast, our attack will be deadly, pinpoint accurate, and most importantly, surprising – they will not know what happened or how it happened. They will just see the results.”
Gallant made these remarks while addressing Intelligence Unit 9900 of the Israel Defense Forces, which specializes in visual intelligence collection and analysis. He credited their efforts for Israel's “air supremacy” and the capacity to “see very precisely and in every place what we want to,” as reported by Jerusalem Post.
In April, Iran had fired multiple missiles and drones at Israel in retaliation for a deadly airstrike on its consulate in Damascus, Syria. Both Israel and the US claimed full interception of that attack, resulting in no damage or casualties. However, the barrage on October 1 was more extensive, with social media footage displaying the failures of Israeli air defenses during multiple missile impacts.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have promised a “serious and significant” response, while Tehran has cautioned both Israel and the US that it will no longer maintain “unilateral self-restraint” and will respond with even greater force.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been reportedly working to coordinate a response with the US, although Gallant’s planned visit to Washington was canceled after Netanyahu indicated he had not been able to reach US President Joe Biden.
Biden has publicly advised West Jerusalem against targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities or oil infrastructure. According to reports from both US and Israeli media, the IDF is expected instead to focus on military and intelligence sites.
Simultaneously, the IRGC-affiliated news agency Tasnim revealed that the Iranian military has developed at least ten contingency plans to respond to any Israeli attack. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi declared on Tuesday that Tehran is “not afraid of war.”
