The "Explore and Uplift Gwadar" conference took place on November 5, 2024, at the Gwadar Port Business Center, underscoring the significance of Gwadar as an emerging business hub in Pakistan and within the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The event drew together government officials, diplomats, business leaders, experts, and media professionals to discuss the critical importance and advantages of developing Gwadar Port, which stands as a flagship project of the CPEC. Key topics included fisheries, shipping, real estate, and tourism in Gwadar.

Attendance featured representatives from the Gwadar Development Authority, Gwadar Port Authority, and members of the business communities from Karachi and Gwadar.

In his address, Imran Ibrahim, director general of Fisheries Balochistan, emphasized the potential for marine life and shrimp farming in Gwadar. He expressed that Gwadar possesses significant opportunities within the shrimp and fish industries and advocated for increased investment in fisheries.

Shafaqat Shahwani, director general of the Gwadar Development Authority, presented a comprehensive plan for Gwadar and detailed the challenges faced in the region, such as access to water, electricity, and sewage systems.

Chinese Consul General Yang Yundong characterized Gwadar Port as a pivotal project of the CPEC and a crucial link for regional connectivity. He remarked on the notable progress achieved in port operations, logistics, and agricultural collaboration between Chinese and Pakistani businesses. He pointed out that initiatives like the Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute, Desalination Plant, and Pak-China Friendship Hospital have provided local residents with skills training, job opportunities, and an improved quality of life.

Yang expressed hope that the new Gwadar International Airport would soon emerge as a key hub for regional connectivity. He reiterated China's commitment to executing "small and beautiful" livelihood projects for the benefit of the local community and anticipated that Pakistan would enhance the security environment in Gwadar.

The conference was jointly organized by Mass Human Resource Services and China Overseas Port Holding Company, with support from various organizations including Pakistan Navy Western Command, the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry, the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan, Gwadar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dimension Solution, and the All Pakistan Shipping Association.
