From the Winter Olympics in Beijing to the Summer Olympics in Paris, China Media Group (CMG) has consistently advanced technological innovation to enhance the allure of its Olympic coverage and journalism.

CMG Prepares for Tech-Enhanced Coverage of Paris Olympics
The 33rd Summer Olympic Games are set to take place in Paris, France, from July 26 to August 11. From the Winter to the Summer Olympics, transitioning from Beijing to Paris, China Media Group (CMG) has consistently pushed technological boundaries to enhance the appeal of its Olympic broadcasts and reporting.

Following a strategic agreement between the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and CMG, Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) and CMG signed a cooperation memorandum in Beijing in 2023. This memorandum established a long-term partnership for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and future events, focusing on in-depth collaboration in event broadcasting, technology application, market development, and other areas to further the spread of Olympic spirit and culture while achieving mutual growth.

CMG's exceptional broadcasting capabilities have earned it the role of main broadcaster for the Paris Olympics, positioning it as the international media organization with the most broadcasting projects for the event. CMG will handle the dual roles of broadcasting and producing the common signal for four major events: table tennis, badminton, sport climbing, and gymnastics. Additionally, it will offer 8K international common signal production for the track and field competitions and the closing ceremony. This marks the first time in Summer Olympics history that 8K production technology has been utilized since the Beijing Winter Olympics.

IOC President Thomas Bach has frequently praised CMG's outstanding reporting capabilities, especially its pioneering 8K production technology. CMG's proficiency in deploying new technologies and advancing Olympic culture globally has been key to its achievements.

In preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics, CMG is integrating "ideas, art, and technology" to provide exceptional coverage. Utilizing advanced technologies such as ultra-high-definition (UHD), artificial intelligence, 5G, and cloud platforms, CMG has developed its own broadcasting and production systems along with key equipment. This robust framework will support multi-channel, multi-terminal converged media dissemination, ensuring comprehensive and immersive coverage of the Paris Olympics.

A highlight of CMG's technological innovations is the 8K UHD live broadcast van, independently developed by CMG's National Key Laboratory of UHD Video Technology. This van offers the most powerful functions and the most flexible system globally, guaranteeing unmatched broadcast capabilities. Furthermore, 8K event programs from the 2024 Paris Olympics will be broadcast via CMG's 8K UHD channel and the "Hundred Cities, Thousand Screens" project, providing viewers with an extraordinary viewing experience.
