Biden Seen Sporting Hat Supporting Trump
US President Joe Biden was captured on video wearing a ‘Trump 2024’ campaign hat during a 9/11 memorial event in Pennsylvania on Wednesday. According to the White House, Biden’s decision to don his rival's hat was meant to symbolize “bipartisan unity.”

During his visit to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where United Airlines flight 93 crashed after passengers fought back against hijackers on September 11, 2001, Biden encountered a rowdy crowd of firefighters. One attendee heckled him, asking, “do you remember your name?” as Biden signed a hat.

“You’re an old fart,” the man remarked, to which Biden replied, “Yeah, I’m an old guy... You would know a lot about that.”

In response to the man's encouragement, Biden took the ‘Trump 2024’ hat and placed it atop his own, which prompted cheers from the crowd.

“I’m proud of you now,” the man said as Biden and he shook hands.

The White House press pool was not granted access to the fire station, and video footage of the encounter only surfaced on social media later. Prior to that, images of Biden smiling while wearing the Trump hat had circulated online.

These visuals caught the attention of the Trump campaign and conservative influencers. The campaign's ‘Trump War Room’ account commented on X, stating, “Kamala did so bad in last night’s debate, Joe Biden just put on a Trump hat.” Meanwhile, Republican filmmaker Robby Starbuck added, “Maybe Trump was on to something last night when he said Joe really hates Kamala?”

On Wednesday, Vice President Kamala Harris accompanied Biden in Shanksville and was also seen at the fire station.

Later that evening, the White House elaborated on Biden’s choice to wear Trump’s merchandise.

“At the Shanksville Fire Station, [Biden] spoke about the country’s bipartisan unity after 9/11 and said we needed to get back to that,” spokesman Andrew Bates relayed on X. “As a gesture, he gave a hat to a Trump supporter who then said that in the same spirit, [he] should put on his Trump cap. He briefly wore it.”

The county of Shanksville, located in Somerset County, overwhelmingly supported Trump in the 2020 election, voting 78% for him and 21% for Biden.
