On Tuesday, Apple introduced its next-generation iPad mini, which comes equipped with advanced artificial intelligence features such as writing tools and an enhanced Siri assistant. This launch reflects the company's efforts to enhance its devices with AI capabilities.

The new iPad mini is driven by Apple's A17 Pro chip, the same processor found in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models. Featuring a six-core central processing unit, the A17 Pro offers a 30 percent increase in CPU performance compared to the current generation of iPad minis and is essential for running Apple Intelligence, the company's AI software.

Apple announced that the initial set of AI features will be rolled out this month in the U.S. version of English via a software update with iPadOS 18.1.

These features will be accessible on iPads that have the A17 Pro or M1 chips and newer generations. Additionally, Apple stated that it plans to introduce more features in the coming months, including image-generation tools, Genmoji, and ChatGPT-powered capabilities.

In September, Apple unveiled its highly anticipated iPhone 16 lineup, which is also equipped with AI enhancements. However, as these AI features remain in testing, some investors expressed caution due to early sales data that raised concerns about demand.

Despite this, research firm Canalys indicated on Monday that the iPhone 16 is expected to bolster Apple’s sales in the fourth quarter and contribute to momentum into the first half of 2025, particularly after Apple achieved record high shipments in the third quarter.

The iPad mini is priced starting at $499, with pre-orders opening on Tuesday. Customers can expect to receive their devices and find them available in Apple store locations starting next week.
