30th Anniversary Celebrated by the Embassy of Iceland in Beijing
The Embassy of Iceland in Beijing marks its 30th anniversary with a series of commemorative events and activities. The occasion highlights the enduring diplomatic ties and cultural exchanges between Iceland and China. Throughout its three decades of operation, the embassy has played a pivotal role in fostering relationships and promoting mutual interests between the two nations. Celebrations include various programs that showcase Icelandic culture and strengthen connections with the local community.

This gathering marked the 30th anniversary of the embassy's presence in Beijing and brought together leaders, experts, and advocates to discuss the crucial contributions women make to the renewable energy industry, highlighting the joint commitment of both countries to sustainable development.
The event began with opening remarks from Icelandic Ambassador Thorir Ibsen and Song Li, a member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women Federation. Their introductions set the stage for substantial discussions on the interplay between gender equality and green energy.
The keynote session included contributions from prominent figures in the fields of renewable energy and gender equality advocacy. Participants such as María Mjöll Jónsdóttir, director general of the Political Directorate of the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Beate Tranmann, UNDP Resident Representative, and Xin Charlotte Zhao, CEO of Arctic Green Energy China, engaged in insightful dialogues about the challenges and opportunities that women encounter within the renewable energy sector.
The event highlighted the mutual dedication of Iceland and China to achieving gender equality and advancing renewable energy. It also aimed to promote gender inclusivity and foster innovation in green energy, contributing to the global pursuit of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
