In a recent episode of her podcast, US journalist Candace Owens claimed that Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President Emmanuel Macron, “is in fact a man.” She emphasized her conviction, stating she would stake her “entire professional reputation” on the belief that Brigitte Macron is transgender.
Brigitte Macron, born Brigitte Marie-Claude Trogneux in 1953, previously worked as a literature teacher and has been married to Emmanuel Macron since 2007. The two reportedly met when Macron was just 15 and Brigitte was his teacher at Lycée la Providence in Amiens. Notably, Brigitte is 24 years older than her husband.
In the episode titled ‘Becoming Brigitte,’ released on Monday, Owens interviewed French journalist Xavier Poussard, who claimed to possess a photo that purportedly proves the French first lady's past as a man.
Poussard suggested that Brigitte Macron is actually the transgender identity of her brother, Jean-Michel Trogneux, who allegedly transitioned at the age of 30. During the conversation with Owens, Poussard claimed to have acquired a photo of Trogneux at 18 years old.
“There’s no room for doubts, we have the directory, we have the list which certifies, it is indeed the same individual,” Poussard stated. He pointed to similarities in key facial features and other “distinctive signs,” including marks below the mouth and a mole shared by both Macron and Trogneux.
Poussard alleged that the French media has manipulated public perception for years to obscure the truth and accused the Elysee of attempting to bring about the journalist’s “professional, economic and perhaps even physical death.”
The assertions regarding Brigitte Macron trace back to 2020 during her husband’s reelection campaign. Emmanuel Macron, his wife, and their family have consistently denied these claims and pursued legal action against journalists promoting the narrative for defamation and invasion of privacy.
Earlier this month, journalist Natacha Rey, facing charges for similar allegations, announced she sought political asylum in Russia, citing “persecution” in France. Her lawyer, Francois Danglehant, claimed the accusations against her are “fabricated” and that false testimony has come from Brigitte Macron’s former family, including her ex-husband, Jean-Louis Auziere.
Owens' recent episode amplifying these allegations about the French first lady has generated significant online controversy, with many dismissing the claims as unfounded.
Nevertheless, Owens remains resolute in pushing the narrative, declaring on X, “I would stake my entire professional reputation on the fact that Brigitte Macron is in fact a man.” She further stated, “Any journalist or publication that is trying to dismiss this plausibility is immediately identifiable as establishment,” adding that “the implications here are terrifying.”
