Shortly after this endorsement was announced on Friday, RFK Jr., aged 70, appeared alongside Trump at a campaign event in Glendale, Arizona. During the event, Kennedy praised Trump, stating he would "make America healthy again" and described him as a leader who will "protect us against totalitarianism."
In response, Trump warmly acknowledged Kennedy's support, reflecting on the legacy of Kennedy's father, US Senator Robert Kennedy, and his uncle, President John F. Kennedy. "I am proud of Bobby," Trump remarked amidst cheers of "Bobby! Bobby!" from the audience.
Trump committed that should he be reelected in November, he would honor RFK Jr. by forming a "new independent commission on presidential assassination attempts." This commission would be tasked with disclosing "all of the remaining documents pertaining to the [1963] assassination of president John F. Kennedy" and also investigate a recent assassination attempt directed at Trump himself.
Trump also praised Kennedy's "decades of work as an advocate for the health of our families and our children," confirming his plan to establish "a panel of top experts" that would join Kennedy in exploring the causes behind the increase in chronic health issues and childhood diseases.
Kennedy, who originally sought the Democratic nomination last year but faced internal party resistance, declared his third-party bid last October. On Friday, he acknowledged the improbability of a victory and chose to pull his name from the ballots in battleground states, though he will continue his candidacy in predominantly Republican ("red") and Democratic ("blue") states. This approach, he explained, would allow his supporters to still vote for him without inadvertently affecting the election’s outcome.
