Tech billionaire Elon Musk has declared his intention to distribute $1 million daily to a resident of a swing state who signs his online petition in support of the US Constitution until the presidential election on November 5.
Musk introduced the petition and a referral offer in early October, initially offering a $47 payment for each individual who successfully gets a swing-state voter to register and sign it. The petition emphasizes defending free speech and gun rights, aiming to energize potential voters for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
The CEO of Tesla and owner of X commenced his giveaway initiative on Saturday by presenting the first million-dollar check to an attendee named John Dreher at his rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, while urging the audience to vote for the former president.
“By the way, John had no idea. So anyway, you’re welcome,” Musk remarked as he handed over the check.
With just over two weeks remaining until the election, the latest polls indicate that Democratic candidate Kamala Harris is leading Trump in three key battleground states: Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
While the Republicans and Democrats dominate the political landscape in most states, swing or battleground states feature a more evenly divided electorate, making them crucial for electoral victories.
“Every day, from now through Nov 5, @America PAC will be giving away $1M to someone in swing states who signed our petition to support free speech & the right to bear arms! We want to make sure that everyone in swing states hears about this and I suspect this will ensure they do.”

Nationally, current Vice President Harris is leading the former president by two points among likely voters, according to polls conducted by the New York Times.
Musk, who had previously portrayed himself as politically neutral, publicly endorsed the Republican nominee following the failed assassination attempt on Trump on July 13. Trump has promised to create a new government position, ‘secretary of cost-cutting,’ specifically tailored for Musk if he is elected.
Earlier this month, Musk, with a net worth exceeding $247 billion according to Forbes, revealed that he had donated $75 million to America Political Action Committee (America PAC), which he founded in July. The group's primary objective is to recruit canvassers and run digital ads to mobilize Trump supporters to vote.
