Kanye West Attributes Anti-Semitic Tweet to 'Hennessy'
Kanye West acknowledged that alcohol influenced him when he posted a controversial tweet threatening Jewish people, attributing his actions to the influence of "demons" after consuming Hennessy cognac.

The incident traces back to 2022, when Kanye West, also known as Ye, declared on the social media platform X that he was going "death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE," which seemed to misappropriate the term 'Defcon 3' used by the US military to indicate a specific level of readiness. Subsequently, West appeared on the show Infowars, where he expressed admiration for Hitler and criticized "the Jewish media" for allegedly distorting the Nazi's image.

In a recent conversation with conservative commentator Candace Owens, West confessed that he was under the influence of alcohol when he made the inflammatory tweet. “I definitely was drinking when I put up the death con tweet,” he disclosed to Owens. He added, “You know whose, I wanna say alcohol, I had inside me? Hennessy. Hennessy. It turns us gray. Literally, the demons [come in].”

Owens commented on the effects of alcohol, noting, “If you drink you become a different person. It’s like a spirit has taken over you. That’s why they call it ‘spirits’.”

Following the controversial tweet, West continued to post anti-Semitic content on various digital platforms, including a provocative image combining a Swastika and a Star of David, as well as a screenshot of a text exchange with rapper Diddy, accusing him of making threats on behalf of "Jewish people."

The backlash from these actions led to West losing a major sponsorship deal with Adidas and facing bans from several social media outlets. Nevertheless, West later issued an apology to the Jewish community via an Instagram post written in Hebrew, expressing regret and a commitment to fostering unity.

Regarding his delayed admission of being intoxicated, West explained to Owens that acknowledging his drunken state during the tweet could "discredit" his subsequent statements.

The interview comes in light of Owens herself facing criticism for alleged anti-Semitic comments, which resulted in her dismissal from the conservative news outlet, the Daily Wire, earlier. Her remarks led to a significant disagreement with the site's Jewish co-founder, Ben Shapiro, who condemned her statements as "disgraceful."
