China and the UK Achieve 69 "Win-Win" Results from Economic and Financial Dialogue
During their recent economic and financial dialogue, China and the United Kingdom committed to creating an open world economy, according to a spokesperson from the Chinese foreign ministry on Monday.
"The two sides reached 69 win-win outcomes," spokesperson Guo Jiakun noted during a routine news briefing.
The 11th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue took place in Beijing on Saturday, co-chaired by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves.
Throughout the discussions, the two sides achieved several mutually beneficial agreements and consensus points. He and Reeves also participated in the fourth China-UK Financial Services Summit.
At the Monday briefing, Guo highlighted that both parties expressed a shared commitment to uphold multilateralism and economic globalization. They reiterated their dedication to maintaining a rules-based multilateral trading system, with the World Trade Organization at its core, and to the establishment of an open world economy.
Both sides recognize that cooperation between China and the UK is advantageous for the development of both nations. They have agreed to collaborate in order to ensure secure, stable, and smooth global production and supply chains, oppose decoupling, reduce barriers to investment, and foster a non-discriminatory and open business environment, Guo stated.
Guo also indicated that there was a consensus reached in areas such as industry, agriculture, and energy cooperation.
Moreover, the finance sector was underscored as a significant aspect of China-UK collaboration, with both nations expressing their intent to enhance cooperation on financial policies and regulations. They aspire to achieve tangible results concerning the mutual opening and connectivity of financial markets, he added.
In conclusion, Guo emphasized that the outcomes of this dialogue demonstrate the extensive and profound nature of China-UK economic and financial cooperation, which benefits both countries as well as the global community. He affirmed that China is prepared to work alongside the UK to implement these outcomes.
