China advances significantly in cybersecurity
China has enhanced its cybersecurity efforts, focusing significantly on legislation, talent development, and safeguarding individuals' rights and interests.
The nation has enacted several laws and established regulations aimed at ensuring data security and the protection of sensitive information online, including personal data and critical infrastructure.
Additionally, frameworks for cybersecurity audits, evaluations of cross-border data flows, and the regulation of emerging technologies like generative AI and automotive data security have been put in place.
According to available data, China has introduced more than 380 national standards related to cybersecurity.
Efforts to boost cybersecurity capabilities continue, with an emphasis on education and talent cultivation. Over 90 higher education institutions have created dedicated schools for cybersecurity studies, and more than 200 colleges offer undergraduate programs in the field.
Government authorities recognize the importance of safeguarding individuals' rights, particularly in relation to violations and crimes.
Specific campaigns have been initiated to oversee cybersecurity and the protection of personal data across critical industries, including the postal, express service, and real estate sectors. Efforts in these areas have shown ongoing improvements in complying with automobile data security standards.
Measures have also been taken to curb the unauthorized collection and usage of personal data by applications, and to tackle offenses related to the trade of personal data, privacy breaches, and telecommunications fraud.
