Beijing Hosts 2nd China International Supply Chain Expo
The second China International Supply Chain Expo, the world's first national-level exhibition dedicated to supply chains, commenced on Tuesday in Beijing. This expo serves as a comprehensive platform for business matchmaking and investment opportunities, promoting collaboration across various industries.

Under the theme "Connecting the World for a Shared Future," this year's event highlights the interconnectedness of the supply chain through its booth design and exhibition zones, offering an extensive presentation of essential processes spanning the entire supply chain, from upstream to downstream.

Exhibitors are showcasing their products in partnership with both upstream and downstream companies, emphasizing their collaborative initiatives at the expo.

Global Participation Growth

Running until November 30, the 2024 CISCE brings together more than 620 companies and institutions, fostering innovation, trade, and investment within global supply chain ecosystems. Over 60 percent of the participating exhibitors are Fortune 500 companies and industry leaders.

This year has seen a 20 percent increase in participants compared to the previous year, with strong representation from the U.S., Europe, Japan, and partners of the Belt and Road Initiative. The share of overseas exhibitors has climbed from 26 percent to 32 percent, showcasing nearly equal participation from Europe and the U.S., alongside over 40 BRI partner nations.

"This reflects the international community's strong demand for cooperation in industrial and supply chains, as well as the trust that companies from around the world place in China's development and the CISCE," stated Zhang Shaogang, deputy director of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, who visited the CISCE on Monday, echoed the importance of global cooperation, underscoring China's role as a crucial market and supply chain partner. He remarked on Apple's commitment to ongoing investment in research and development to support long-term growth in China: "With China's growth, Apple has grown as well. It's a great example of win-win cooperation."

Additionally, delegates from over 100 countries and organizations are anticipated to attend the event, with China extending special support to enterprises from less-developed regions by providing free exhibition booths to encourage their involvement.

Technological Innovation and Industrial Collaboration

A notable feature of this year’s CISCE is a newly introduced exhibition area focused on advanced manufacturing, complementing existing sectors dedicated to clean energy, smart vehicles, digital technology, healthy living, green agriculture, and supply chain services.

This new section will display state-of-the-art technologies encompassing R&D, design, intelligent manufacturing, and high-end equipment, highlighting the advancement of high-quality production capabilities. It provides a platform for nearly 80 leading global companies to showcase their latest technological solutions.

The event also includes specialized displays from major industry players. For example, Bosch, in partnership with Rio Tinto and XPeng, will showcase innovations in the smart vehicle supply chain, while Siemens will highlight its industrial automation technologies. Other prominent exhibitors like Maersk, Sumitomo Electric, and Honeywell will unveil new products concentrated on logistics, environmental stewardship, and carbon reduction initiatives.

This year's expo aims to bolster efforts promoting an open and inclusive global economy, facilitating collaboration between Chinese and international firms. Companies including Rio Tinto, Bosch, Baowu, and XPeng will present a comprehensive upgrade of the smart and green automotive industry. Furthermore, Fonterra, along with its Chinese partners, will exhibit the sustainable development of the "farm-to-table" ecological chain, while Lenovo and SAP will showcase innovations in private cloud solutions and commercial AI.

Hubei and Hungary's Collaborative Role

Hubei Province, designated as the Province of Honor this year, will join Hungary, the State of Honor, in co-hosting a special matchmaking conference aimed at fostering supply chain cooperation.

Hubei, situated in central China, plays a pivotal role in advancing collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative and building the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The province will work with Hungary to create new international cooperation avenues, particularly in sectors like advanced manufacturing, logistics, and green energy.

Hungary will exhibit its key industries, distinctive resources, and cultural heritage at the Hungary Pavilion, highlighting advancements in technology, agriculture, and environmental sustainability while also showcasing the country's scenic beauty and cultural traditions.
