The Tengchong Scientists Forum 2024 emphasizes the importance of technology in fostering development.
The forum, themed "Science – Global Innovation, and the Mission of Scientists: Empowering High-Quality Development," facilitated in-depth discussions on cutting-edge scientific innovation.
This year’s program includes an opening ceremony, keynote speeches, 11 parallel forums, and nine special events. Building on the successful formats of past forums, which encompassed dedicated sessions for university deans and young scientists, the 2024 edition introduces new tracks that focus on biodiversity and modern agriculture, life sciences and health, as well as the intersection of technology and finance.
Moreover, a series of events such as a symposium on international intellectual property innovation cooperation in South Asia and Southeast Asia will also take place.
During the opening ceremony, Prof. Xue Qikun from Tsinghua University and Prof. Xie Xiaoliang, director of the Changping Laboratory, received the Tengchong Science Award 2024.
The forum also saw the announcement of the Tengchong Scientists Forum development fund and a Yunnan provincial fund aimed at advancing traditional Chinese medicine, representing a significant move to facilitate technology transfer and commercialization.
Experts present at the forum underscored the vital importance of innovation in driving development. They recognized the Tengchong Scientists Forum as an exceptional platform that connects scientists, educators, and entrepreneurs, promoting the integration of science, technology, and their practical applications.
Founded by eminent academicians Gu Binglin, Xu Zhihong, and Rao Zhe, the Tengchong Scientists Forum is committed to enhancing international collaboration and exchange in scientific innovation. This year's event, co-hosted by the Yunnan Provincial People's Government and the China Association for Science and Technology, will continue until December 8.
