US-Russia Discussions Conclude in Saudi Arabia
The two delegations engaged in over 12 hours of negotiations aimed at resolving the Ukraine conflict and addressing maritime security in the Black Sea. These discussions wrapped up in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. According to Russian...

According to Russian news agencies RIA Novosti and TASS, a joint statement regarding the outcomes of the talks is anticipated to be released on Tuesday. The Russian Foreign Ministry shared a brief video of its negotiation team exiting the venue, stating, “The Russian-American consultations have concluded,” though no additional specifics were given.
Grigory Karasin, a seasoned diplomat and chairman of the parliamentary International Relations Committee, who was part of the Russian team, characterized the discussions in Riyadh as both “creative” and “technical.”
“Not every negotiation yields a high-profile document or agreement,” Karasin mentioned to reporters during a break in the discussions. “What matters is maintaining communication and understanding each other’s positions. In this regard, we are succeeding.”
The focus of the negotiations was largely on maritime security in the Black Sea and the potential revival of the Black Sea Initiative, commonly referred to as the “grain deal,” which was initially facilitated by the UN and Türkiye. Russia had exited this agreement in July 2023, citing the West’s failure to fulfill its commitments.
“If you recall [the original version] of the deal, there were significant obligations made to our side that were never fulfilled. This remains part of the agenda,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted earlier in the day.
Additionally, US President Donald Trump has proposed the possibility of reexamining this deal as part of a broader initiative to establish a truce between Moscow and Kiev, as explained by Peskov.
