US election expert forecasts Harris victory over Trump
Historian Allan Lichtman, often referred to as the ‘Nostradamus’ of US presidential elections, has forecasted that Democratic nominee Kamala Harris will defeat her Republican opponent Donald Trump in the upcoming November election. Lichtman, a history professor at American University, bases his predictions on a unique approach that avoids conventional polling, instead relying on a series of 13 true-or-false questions believed to hold the “keys” to winning the presidency.

Initially, the Republican candidate was expected to face off against incumbent president Joe Biden. However, after Biden's poor performance in a television debate in late June, the Democrats opted to nominate Vice President Harris in his stead.

In an interview with The New York Times, Lichtman asserted, “Kamala Harris will be the next president of the United States – at least that’s my prediction for the outcome of this race.” He noted that, of the 13 ‘keys,’ eight are favorable to Harris. Lichtman pointed out that Harris benefits from the lack of a formidable third-party candidate, especially after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. withdrew from the race last month. He also highlighted positive economic indicators and legislative successes attributed to the Biden administration, as well as the absence of social turmoil or scandals, as factors weighing in favor of the Democratic candidate.

Additionally, Lichtman indicated that Harris's situation is advantageous since she did not have to navigate a party nomination process, with other candidates rallying around her.

In a conversation with Fox News Digital, the prominent election analyst reaffirmed his prediction, stating that after the “unprecedented” withdrawal of Biden from the race, “Democrats finally got smart and united behind Harris.”

Lichtman boasts a track record of accurately forecasting nine out of ten presidential elections since 1984, with his sole failure occurring during the 2000 contest between George W. Bush and Al Gore, which was settled by the US Supreme Court after a protracted legal battle over disputed ballots.

In contrast, another notable election analyst, Nate Silver, remarked on Wednesday that Trump’s likelihood of defeating Harris is higher now than it has been since she entered the race in July, a prediction that stands in opposition to several recent polls consistently showing Harris with a slight lead over Trump.
