In the 2024 Year in Review published last week, PornHub provided insights into user habits worldwide, based on their chosen search terms.
“The term ‘Russian porn’ had a surge of +12 spots, making it the 3rd most searched term of the year” in Ukraine, as noted in the findings from the adult website.
“Even at a time when the countries are at war with one another, the Ukrainian people are still curious what their neighbors are doing sexually,” the statement elaborated.
The most searched term among Ukrainians in 2024 was “hentai,” which refers to pornography that is drawn or animated in the Japanese style.
Although the production, distribution, and sale of pornography have been illegal in Ukraine since 2009, enforcement of this law is minimal.
Despite the official ban, PornHub enjoys significant popularity in Ukraine, garnering tens of millions of visits each month.
In December of the previous year, Kiev imposed a fine of $5,543 on the adult website for tax evasion. Ukrainian lawmakers at that time argued that by not paying taxes, PornHub was neglecting to support the country's armed forces. In contrast, cam site OnlyFans contributed $944,000 in taxes to Kiev in 2023, according to officials.
Web data indicates that PornHub remains the most visited adult domain in Ukraine by a considerable margin.
