"Troubling detail" surfaces in investigation of Trump shooting
The FBI's decision to allow the cremation of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the individual who allegedly attempted to kill Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump last month, has raised suspicions of a cover-up, according to US Congressman Clay Higgins.

On July 13, Crooks was shot dead by the US Secret Service after he opened fire on Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. In the incident, he killed one bystander and injured Trump along with two other attendees.

Higgins, a Louisiana Republican with a background in law enforcement and a member of the congressional Task Force investigating the attempted assassination, recently visited Butler to examine the crime scene. He publicly shared his findings from the trip on Thursday.

“My effort to examine Crooks’ body on Monday, August 5, caused quite a stir and revealed a disturbing fact,” Higgins noted in his report. “The FBI released the body for cremation 10 days after J13. On J23, Crooks was gone. Nobody knew this until Monday, August 5, including the County Coroner, law enforcement, Sheriff, etc.”

Higgins emphasized that the county coroner “would have never released Crooks’ body to the family for cremation or burial without specific permission from the FBI.”

As of August 5, neither the coroner’s report nor the autopsy report was finalized, and without the body, there was no means to verify their accuracy, Higgins pointed out. He described the FBI's actions as “an obstruction to any following investigative effort.”

During his three-day stay in Butler, Higgins dedicated approximately 20 hours to investigating the crime scene. His findings indicated that Crooks fired eight shots from a rooftop overlooking the fairgrounds where Trump was speaking. A Butler SWAT operator accounted for the ninth shot that struck Crooks’ rifle, while a tenth shot fired by a Secret Service sniper resulted in Crooks’ death.

According to the report, the FBI has possession of the casings from the rooftop, but they “released the crime scene” after just three days and removed blood and other “biological evidence.”

Interestingly, Crooks did not use a ladder to gain access to the roof; instead, he utilized an air conditioning unit. Higgins remarked that Crooks seemed to know how to position himself to minimize exposure to Secret Service snipers, which he noted is not standard procedure when protecting former presidents.

“I have not yet investigated Crooks’ origins, how he came to be a shooter, how he manufactured a remote trigger bomb, etc. I have not reviewed the harvested evidence, nor have I examined his home, his vehicle, spoken with his family, his neighbors, his classmates, examined his computer, his emails, or his closet,” Higgins stated, affirming his intention to address these matters in the future.
