Tesla Announces Recall of 700,000 Vehicles
The decision to recall was initiated due to a flaw in the tire pressure warning system.

Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla is recalling 700,000 vehicles in the US because of a malfunction in the tire pressure monitoring system, which increases the risk of accidents, according to the Associated Press, referencing a safety watchdog.

This recall involves multiple models, including the 2024 Cybertruck, and the Model 3 from 2017 to 2025, as well as the Model Y from 2020 to 2025, as stated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in a recent announcement.

The safety agency cautioned that the tire pressure monitoring system may not reliably display a low-pressure warning light between driving cycles, further elevating the likelihood of accidents.

Tesla plans to resolve the issue with a complimentary software update, and notifications to vehicle owners are slated to be sent out by February 15, 2025, as reported by AP.

This marks the seventh recall concerning the Cybertruck this year. In November, Tesla recalled approximately 2,400 pickups due to a malfunctioning part that could lead to power loss. Furthermore, in June, around 12,000 trucks were recalled because of a windshield wiper issue that compromised visibility.

Tesla has encountered numerous recalls over the years. Notably, in February, the automaker addressed its largest recall to date, which affected nearly 2.2 million vehicles, most of which were sold in the US. This recall was prompted by complaints regarding digital display warning lights appearing inaccurately. In December 2023, another significant recall involved Tesla’s autopilot system, where federal regulators determined that the system failed to adequately monitor driver attention, posing a potential safety threat.
