Described by US police as a potential threat to former President Donald Trump, Miller has denied all accusations and criminal charges against him. The Riverside County Sheriff, Chad Bianco, stated that Miller could be the third suspect since July to attempt an assassination on the Republican nominee, while Miller insists he is “all in” for Trump.
Miller, 49, was apprehended on Saturday at a checkpoint near a Trump rally in Coachella, California, where he was found with an illegally owned shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Bianco remarked that officers had “probably stopped another assassination attempt” against Trump.
Charged with illegal firearms possession, Miller was released on $5,000 bail, with a court hearing scheduled for January. In an interview with Fox News Digital, he argued that his firearms were legally owned and he possessed no counterfeit IDs, contrary to state officials' assertions.
“I always travel around with my firearms in the back of my truck,” Miller, a Las Vegas resident, told the news network on Sunday.
He contended that he purchased the weapons due to receiving death threats linked to his media work, though he admitted he had never learned to use a gun.
“I’ve literally never even shot a gun in my life,” Miller stated. “I don’t know anything about guns. I am beyond a novice.”
Miller also expressed concern over potential confusion with his identification documents, explaining that he is Armenian and that variations of his name appear on his papers. He suggested that being identified as Armenian could pose risks in certain regions of the world.
He rejected the label of a “sovereign citizen,” calling the concept “nonsensical.”
Once a supporter of Barack Obama, Miller noted that he has since switched allegiance to the Republican Party, declaring himself “100% a Trump supporter” who has been “all-in” for the former president since 2018.
According to Fox, the Trump campaign is doubtful that Miller had any real intention of harming its candidate, based on insider information.
Trump has survived two assassination attempts during this election cycle. In July, he was injured in his ear when a shooter opened fire at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The assailant killed one individual and wounded several others before being neutralized by a sniper.
Last month, a man was apprehended while attempting to ambush the Republican candidate at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, after being startled by Trump’s Secret Service team. This man, identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, is a pro-Kiev activist previously involved in a scheme to recruit former Afghan commandos for the Ukraine conflict.
