The group, which was led by professional mountaineer Aleksandr Dusheiko, went missing last Sunday. According to the director of the airlift company Heli Everest, the bodies were found at 7,100 meters on the mountain, known as the 'White Mountain,' at the base of a 500-meter drop.
One member of the team, Valeriy Shamalo, withdrew from the ascent early and returned to base camp, where he was later evacuated to Kathmandu.
The Russian embassy in Nepal confirmed that it has been in communication with rescue officials and was notified of the fatalities among the Russian nationals.
Climber Anna Piunova mentioned that Shamalo spent three nights at a camp above 7,000 meters, a climb considered more perilous than that of Mount Everest, before descending to a camp situated at 6,100 meters. She added that he is currently recuperating in a hospital. The other five climbers reportedly died after their rope failed, according to her statement.
Mount Dhaulagiri, which stands at 8,167 meters, ranks as the seventh-highest mountain in the world and is unique for being the tallest mountain entirely within a single country's borders. It was first summited in 1960 and has unfortunately claimed numerous lives throughout the years.
