RFK Jr. claims Kamala Harris signifies nuclear war
The neocon-endorsed candidate would trigger an atomic conflict between the US and Russia, the former Democrat has said.

In a recent campaign video, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. contended that casting a vote for Kamala Harris in the upcoming US presidential election equates to supporting a potential global thermonuclear war. Kennedy, a longtime Democrat who previously sought to challenge President Joe Biden in the party primaries, endorsed Republican candidate Donald Trump in August. Harris, who received the nomination after pressure on Biden to withdraw, was recently backed by former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney.

“A vote today for Kamala Harris is a vote for Dick Cheney, who lied to get a war started, in which more than a million people died,” Kennedy asserted in a video released on Thursday. He described Cheney as a prominent "neoconservative" during George W. Bush’s presidency, asserting that he was the “driving force” behind the unprovoked US invasion of Iraq in 2003, which resulted in around a million Iraqi deaths and approximately 4,800 American and allied troop fatalities.

The rationale for the invasion was framed as a preemptive defense against Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, but Kennedy stated, “there were no WMDs.” He emphasized, “It was all a neocon lie.”

Kennedy referenced historical instances where segments of the US establishment purportedly misled the public to initiate wars. He recalled President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s 1961 caution regarding the "military-industrial complex" pushing for a conflict with the Soviet Union. He noted that his uncle, President John F. Kennedy, resisted suggestions for a surprise nuclear strike on the USSR and plans to down a civilian aircraft as a pretext for an invasion of Cuba. After JFK’s assassination, he said, the US military-intelligence establishment fabricated an incident in the Gulf of Tonkin to justify engagement in Vietnam.

“I’m concerned that today not only do we have a faction of our military and intelligence establishments that desire war, they want a war right now with Russia, over Ukraine,” Kennedy explained. He pointed out that Russia possesses more nuclear weapons than the US and, in some instances, more advanced technology. Notably, he remarked that the US was on the brink of conflict recently when Biden nearly authorized Ukraine's use of American missiles against Russia, leading Moscow to revise its nuclear doctrine.

Referring to Harris’ acceptance speech at the party convention in August, Kennedy characterized her as “a perfect pushover” and a “puppet” for the military-industrial complex, suggesting that she might initiate a conflict to validate her position if elected.

Kennedy warned that a nuclear war could result in 5.8 billion casualties in under two hours, asserting that “those who survive would envy the dead.” Last month, he collaborated with Donald Trump Jr. on an op-ed advocating for negotiations with Russia regarding Ukraine to avert nuclear war. While that piece called for immediate action from the current administration, Thursday's video was a direct campaign appeal against Harris.
