In a recent interview with state-owned Kossuth Radio, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban asserted that the election of Donald Trump as President-elect of the United States marked a significant defeat for activist billionaire George Soros and his Democratic Party allies, who aimed to plunge America into a “gender frenzy.”
Orban accused the 94-year-old philanthropist, who was born in Hungary, of having a “large network” that is closely linked with the Democratic Party, noting that their initiatives sought to impose globalist ideologies to promote their economic interests. He argued, “They believe that it is their duty… to fix humanity. In other words, to impose on the countries what they consider right,” and added that such efforts often lead to “migration chaos.” He criticized the Democratic Party for engendering an unchecked proliferation of woke politics, stating, “Here come the American Democrats, because then there will be Pride, rainbow flags, and transgender issues.”
Orban posited that Trump’s election signaled a pivotal change in this landscape, declaring, “George Soros lost the battle in America. I could say that America was liberated by Donald Trump,” and suggested that Soros's associates had retreated to Brussels as a result.
He remarked on the challenges facing Europe, saying, “We, Europeans, now have to face a very difficult period as they entrench themselves in Brussels… they need to be squeezed out of Brussels.” Furthermore, Orban expressed his disapproval of the fact that the Soros network is funded by the EU budget, asserting, “We cannot tolerate this, it is our money too… The biggest corruption scandal in politics is that Brussels is in George Soros’s pocket.”
Orban has been a longstanding critic of Soros and his Open Society Foundations, accusing them of supporting pro-migration policies, undermining traditional family values, and advancing a globalist agenda. Opponents of Soros have also claimed that he has instigated numerous ‘color’ revolutions and maintains financial connections to numerous media outlets, shielding him from criticism while shaping public opinion and promoting what Orban terms “LGBT fanaticism.” In response, the Open Society Foundations maintain that their primary mission is to support human rights and democracy across the globe.
