New York Mayor calls social media a “public health hazard”

The mayor of New York says social media is an environmental toxin and a public health hazard.

Eric Adams is the first major elected city official in America to take such a stance. He says social media companies are fueling a mental health crisis.

Adam's alert comes less than a year after a similar warning from U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy about the mental health risk and well-being of children and adolescents.

CGTN’s John Terrett reports.
