Musk Responds Firmly to German Magazine Regarding 'Public Enemy' Allegation
Elon Musk has responded to German magazine Der Spiegel after it labeled him "public enemy No. 2" and accused him of collaborating with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump to undermine liberal democracy. Musk firmly maintains that he is a dedicated supporter of democracy.

The article, published on Sunday, featured a cover that highlighted a close-up of Musk's face, intertwined with Trump's features. It emphasized Musk's significant economic power and his high-profile presence in the media.

The article contended, "Within a few years, he [Musk] has not only become the political right-wing hardliner, but also a declared opponent of the liberal democracy in the US. The Troll-in chief has mutated into a political agitator. One could say: Donald Trump is probably the current biggest threat to the free world. His buddy Musk [is] at least public enemy number two," while drawing comparisons to historical figures such as Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, suggesting significant backing from industrial moguls was integral to his rise.

Musk confronted these charges during a town hall meeting with American voters in Pennsylvania. "I’m like, enemy No. 2 of what? Democracy? I mean I’m pro-democracy. I’m literally trying to uphold the Constitution and ensure we have a free and fair election," Musk retorted, eliciting applause from the audience.

In light of the article, Musk indicated he would "definitely upgrade… my security" and admitted he is sometimes "shocked" by the actions of those on the left. He remarked, "You know, the level of vitriolic hatred on the left, which is supposed to be tolerant. They claim they are tolerant and yet they are incredibly intolerant and spewing hate."

Self-identified as a "free speech absolutist," Musk endorsed Trump following a failed assassination attempt on the former president in July and has contributed tens of millions to his campaign. He has consistently voiced concerns regarding what he perceives as escalating censorship in the US and an excessive bureaucracy that hinders effective action.

In turn, Trump has pledged to establish a Musk-led government efficiency commission aimed at auditing the entire federal government should he regain the presidency.
