Mayors from Around the Globe Gather in Eastern China for Dialogue, Focus on Future Development
The Global Mayors Dialogue, a platform dedicated to urban governance and sustainable development, is set to take place in Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province in eastern China, on Wednesday.
Representatives, including mayors from 24 cities across 15 countries and regions, along with diplomatic envoys to China and related national authorities, will convene at the forum to exchange insights on urban governance and investigate innovative approaches to sustainable development.
As centers of economic, cultural, and technological growth, cities have garnered international attention for their governance strategies and dedication to sustainable practices.
Hangzhou, renowned for its three UNESCO World Heritage sites—the West Lake Cultural Landscape, the Grand Canal, and the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City—features a vibrant cultural heritage, a flourishing digital economy, a favorable business climate, and a long history of international relations. The city is partnered with 31 international sister cities and has fostered friendly ties with 42 foreign municipalities.
The forum aims to highlight the accomplishments of both Chinese and international cities in areas such as innovative governance frameworks, digital economic progress, ecological protection, and cultural preservation and advancement, providing valuable perspectives for the future of urban areas around the globe.
Additionally, two parallel sub-forums will focus on "Integration of Cities and Digital Reality" and "Cities and Green Development," where participants and experts will delve into comprehensive discussions regarding the future landscape of urban development.
