Leading Democrat Suggests Investigation into Musk's Political Actions
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro expressed that Elon Musk's decision to offer money to voters is “deeply concerning.” For the full article, visit RT.com.
Shapiro contends that law enforcement should explore the implications of Elon Musk's announcement, in which the billionaire proposed to give $1 million each day to selected registered swing state voters who support his petition advocating for the US Constitution.
On Saturday, the CEO of X, SpaceX, and Tesla declared his intention to distribute $1 million daily to lucky voters who signed his petition aimed at defending "free speech and the right to bear arms" as outlined in the Constitution. He presented the first check to an individual named John Dreher during a rally held in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on the same day.
Musk, who has been vocal in his support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and has appeared at his events, said this giveaway will continue until Election Day on November 5.
Shapiro, a former state attorney general and a notable Democrat who was reportedly in consideration as a potential running mate for Vice President Kamala Harris, described Musk’s actions as “deeply concerning.”
“I think there are real questions with how he is spending money in this race, how the dark money is flowing, not just into Pennsylvania, but apparently now into the pockets of Pennsylvanians,” Shapiro stated during a conversation on NBC’s Meet the Press.
“It’s something that law enforcement could take a look at,” the governor added.
“Musk obviously has a right to be able to express his views,” Shapiro remarked. “I don’t deny him that right. But when you start flowing this kind of money into politics, I think it raises serious questions that folks may want to take a look at.”
Musk began to show his support for Trump following the former president’s narrow escape from an assassination attempt in July. Recently, Musk contributed $75 million to the pro-Trump America PAC.
As the election nears, with key polls remaining close, both Harris and Trump are competing for crucial swing states including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Nevada—states that could prove vital for a successful outcome on election night.
