Iran cautions US regarding Israeli attack
Iran has issued a warning that those familiar with plans for a potential attack will be held accountable, signaling its stance amid rising tensions in the region.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the US would be seen as complicit if Israel executes its threat of a significant strike against Iran. This warning follows a series of missile attacks from Iran towards Israel.

During a press conference on Friday, US President Joe Biden was questioned about whether he had a “good understanding” of Israel's possible actions in response to the Iranian missile strikes on October 1. He affirmed that he was aware and declined to elaborate further.

On Saturday, Araghchi took to X to emphasize that “anybody with knowledge or understanding of ‘how and when Israel was going to attack Iran,’ and/or providing the means and backing for such folly, should logically be held accountable for any possible causality.”

While he did not directly mention the US, his post included a link to a Reuters article that reported Biden confirming he is aware of Israeli plans to target Iran.

CNN reported on Saturday, citing informed sources, that an investigation has been launched by the US following the leak of highly classified intelligence regarding Israel's preparations for potential strikes on Iran.

Two documents were shared on Telegram on Friday. One of these, reportedly from the Pentagon’s National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, indicated that the Israeli military has been actively preparing munitions and conducting covert UAV operations as of October 16, likely for a strike on Iran.

The second document detailed a “large-force employment exercise” carried out by the Israeli Air Force on October 15 and 16.

The backdrop to these tensions includes Iran’s launch of nearly 200 ballistic missiles at Israel on October 1, which it characterized as a response to the deaths of several leaders from Hamas and Hezbollah, as well as an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps general, the previous month.

In response, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has threatened a retaliation that would be “deadly, pinpoint accurate, and surprising,” while some Israeli officials have advocated targeting Iranian energy infrastructure, such as nuclear facilities.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office declared on Thursday that Israel would make its “final decisions” on retaliation “based on our national interest.”
