The campaign for the vice president announced that it garnered an unprecedented $361 million in fundraising last month.

Harris's August Fundraising Nearly Triples Trump’s
In an impressive display of fundraising, Kamala Harris secured $361 million last month, significantly increasing her financial lead over Donald Trump. The vice president's campaign labeled this achievement as the best grassroots fundraising month in the history of presidential campaigns.

Harris’ fundraising nearly tripled the $130 million raised by Trump during the same timeframe, as both campaigns gear up for the critical final stretch leading into fall. As of this week’s campaign disclosures, Harris and her affiliated committees hold $404 million in cash, giving her a $100 million edge over Trump’s nearly $300 million.

August was notable as Harris’ first complete month as the Democratic Party's presidential nominee, coinciding with the party's national convention in Chicago. Since assuming the top of the ticket in late July, she has brought in over $615 million.

The surge in Harris’ fundraising signals a turnaround for Democrats, who lost their financial advantage when Trump surpassed President Joe Biden following the former president’s conviction in New York at the end of May. However, Harris’ ascension to the nomination in July led to an unprecedented wave of donations.

With ample funds at her disposal, the Harris campaign has made substantial investments in political advertising, committing $370 million to TV and digital ads from Labor Day through Election Day. Additionally, her campaign has allocated nearly $25 million to support down-ballot races, representing an early and larger investment than typically seen from the presidential nominee in recent cycles.

Comprehensive financial reports for August, which will provide further insights into campaign fundraising and spending, are due on September 20.

The campaign placed particular emphasis on its grassroots fundraising efforts, highlighting that August recorded its strongest performance in this area. It reported that 1.3 million individuals contributed for the first time in August, and noted the diversity of its donor base, with 60 percent of donors being women and one-fifth identifying as registered Republicans or independents.

“In just a short time, Vice President Harris’ candidacy has galvanized a history-making, broad, and diverse coalition — with the type of enthusiasm, energy, and grit that wins close elections,” said Julie Chávez Rodríguez, Harris’ campaign manager, in a statement accompanying the fundraising figures released on Friday. “With the undeniable, organic support we are seeing, we are making sure we are doing everything possible to mobilize our coalition to defeat Donald Trump once and for all.”
