China remains committed to environmental protection and the pursuit of sustainable growth
China remains committed to prioritizing ecological protection and advancing green development initiatives.

"We implemented major projects for protecting and restoring key ecosystems and realized a further reduction in the areas of both deserts and sandy lands. We pushed ahead with upgrading in key industries for energy conservation and carbon reduction and advanced the development and use of new energy sources. The share of electricity generated from non-fossil fuels increased, accounting for close to 40 percent of total power generation," stated Li.
Moreover, the Premier noted that China launched the National Voluntary Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Trading Market, resulting in increasingly brisk carbon emissions trading within the country.
Referring to 2025 objectives, the government work report indicates that China will maintain a strong focus on ecological protection, resource conservation and efficiency, and the pursuit of green and low-carbon development.
Plans will be created for the comprehensive management of solid waste.
Additionally, China will implement region-specific environmental management while adopting a holistic approach to the protection of mountain, water, forest, farmland, grassland, and desert ecosystems.
Efforts will be made to establish a national park-based system of protected areas.
New biodiversity conservation programs will be initiated, with strict enforcement of the 10-year fishing ban on the Yangtze River. Pilot zones will also continue to develop under the Beautiful China Initiative, aligning with the public's demand for a healthy environment.
Policies and standards will be improved to facilitate green and low-carbon development, ensuring a favorable environment for industries focused on sustainability. Demonstration programs will showcase the latest green and low-carbon technologies.
Furthermore, incentives for eco-friendly consumption will be enhanced to encourage sustainable production and lifestyle choices.
China plans to steadily proceed with the second phase of trials for peaking carbon emissions and will establish a number of zero-carbon industrial parks and factories, in addition to launching low-carbon upgrade trials in coal-fired power plants.
Finally, the government work report outlines plans for significant projects aimed at addressing climate change, and emphasizes the country's commitment to actively participate in and influence global environmental and climate governance.
