China Pavilion inaugurated at COP29 in Baku

The China Pavilion launched on Monday at the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, known as COP29, in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The China Pavilion at the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, or COP29, officially opened on Monday in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Throughout the event, which runs from November 11 to 22, the pavilion will feature 10 themed days along with various sideline activities.

During a meeting that celebrated the pavilion's launch, Zhao Yingmin, head of the Chinese delegation to COP29 and vice minister of China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment, remarked that China has emerged as a critical participant, contributor, and leader in advancing global ecological civilization in recent years.

He expressed China's willingness to collaborate with the international community to bolster political mutual trust, practice multilateralism, enhance global cooperation, and create a prosperous, clean, and beautiful world.

Liu Zhenmin, China's special envoy for climate change, emphasized that China has consistently prioritized climate change, recognizing it as a key national strategy. He stated that low-carbon development is integral to building a beautiful China.

Liu noted that China's commitment to fostering green and low-carbon development has yielded significant results and garnered considerable international acclaim.

He conveyed his hope that COP29 would boost confidence among global stakeholders, highlighting the necessity of adhering to the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities and rigorously enforcing legal agreements.

Liu called on developed nations to honor their promises by providing financial assistance to support developing countries in enhancing their capacity to tackle climate challenges.

He reaffirmed China's readiness to join forces with the international community to support multilateralism, promote fairness and justice in climate governance, respect market principles and trade freedom, and contribute to the success of COP29, ultimately fostering greater stability and predictability in global climate governance.
