UK NGO Faces Accusations of US 'Election Meddling'
The Centre for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH), which is associated with the Labour party, has allegedly collaborated with Democrats to censor US citizens, according to America First Legal. Read Full Article at RT.com.
The pro-Republican organization has formally called on the US Department of Justice to investigate CCDH's actions as “agents of a foreign principal” that must adhere to FARA requirements.
“Our investigation has uncovered shocking details about a foreign organization’s influence over the Biden-Harris Administration and numerous state governments,” remarked Gene Hamilton of AFL in a statement on Thursday, asserting that CCDH's objectives “appear to be to stop Americans from exercising a fundamental right guaranteed against governmental interference by the First Amendment.”
AFL claims that CCDH has pushed for unconstitutional censorship on social media platforms for several years. The organization pointed out that its CEO, Imran Ahmed, has taken credit for leading the 'defund racism' campaign, which pressured Google to remove advertisements from certain media outlets, including the Federalist and ZeroHedge.
Although CCDH states that its mission is “to protect human rights and civil liberties online,” AFL contends that its actual practices involve deplatforming, censorship, and suppressing dissent.
CCDH was established by Morgan McSweeney, who serves as chief of staff to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and is a former director of Labour Together, a think tank closely linked to Starmer’s Labour Party. Labour Together has been providing advice to US Vice President Kamala Harris’ election campaign, while over 100 British Labour Party activists are reportedly campaigning for Harris in the US. Notably, both organizations share an address in London.
AFL has accused CCDH of collaborating with the White House and Democrats in 2021 to censor American citizens, including former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., for allegedly spreading misinformation about Covid-19.
On March 24, 2021, CCDH released a report identifying key critics of lockdown measures as “the Disinformation Dozen” and called for them to be de-platformed. Subsequently, attorneys general from 12 Democratic-led states sent a letter to Twitter and Facebook’s CEOs, referencing the CCDH report and demanding censorship of these individuals. However, AFL alleged that CCDH had prior communication with the Connecticut attorney general's office before the report's release and may have “potentially coordinated” the letter's drafting.
AFL also pointed out that CCDH board chair Simon Clark previously served as a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Lab and the Center for American Progress. In response to CCDH's actions, AFL has initiated a class action lawsuit against the Atlantic Council for alleged collusion with the Biden-Harris administration to censor speech in the United States.
Recently leaked internal documents from CCDH revealed that the organization aimed to “kill” Elon Musk’s X as its primary annual goal, focusing on advertising strategies and prompting regulatory actions in the UK and EU.
