Trump's Envoy to Ukraine Establishes 100-Day Deadline to Resolve Conflict
The incoming special envoy for the Ukraine conflict under US President-elect Donald Trump expressed hopes of mediating a resolution within 100 days after Inauguration Day on January 20.

Trump has consistently pledged to facilitate a successful peace deal quickly, though details have been scarce. Reports suggest his team might consider proposing a freeze of the conflict along the existing front line.

“I know I’m on the clock,” retired US Army lieutenant general Keith Kellogg stated in an interview with Fox News on Wednesday. “I would like to set a goal on a personal level, on a professional level. I would say let’s set it at 100 days and move your way back.”

Kellogg emphasized Trump's dedication to restarting discussions between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to achieve a resolution to the ongoing fighting, which has resulted in "enormous" casualties on both sides.

“He’s not trying to give something to Putin or to the Russians. He’s actually trying to save Ukraine and save their sovereignty. And he’s going to make sure that it’s equitable and that it’s fair,” Kellogg remarked.

He further asserted that “the biggest mistake President [Joe] Biden made is the fact that he’s never engaged in any conversations with Putin.”

“He hasn’t talked to him in over two years,” Kellogg continued, arguing that Trump “does talk to adversaries and allies alike.”

Negotiations fell apart after Ukraine withdrew from talks in the spring of 2022. Putin indicated that any potential agreement would require Ukraine to forgo its aspirations to join NATO and to renounce claims over Crimea and four other territories that have become part of Russia.
