Trump Calls Zelensky the 'Greatest Salesman in History'
Former President Donald Trump shared his thoughts on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, suggesting that Zelensky desires Vice President Kamala Harris to win the upcoming election. "He wants [Harris] to win this election so badly, but I would do differently – I will work out peace," Trump said, following Zelensky's skepticism regarding Trump's claims that he could swiftly resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Trump has continuously asserted that he would encourage both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Zelensky to negotiate a deal to end the fighting. He remarked, “I think Zelensky is the greatest salesman in history. Every time he comes into the country, he walks away with $60 billion.”

In April, the U.S. approved a significant military aid package of $61 billion for Ukraine, which faced delays due to opposition from some Republicans. Concerns have emerged among Ukrainian officials regarding the possibility of Trump reducing U.S. military assistance if elected.

Zelensky expressed his doubts about Trump's assertions in a recent interview with The New Yorker, stating, "My feeling is that Trump doesn’t really know how to stop the war, even if he might think he knows how. With this war, oftentimes, the deeper you look at it the less you understand."

Currently, Zelensky is in the United States, where he is expected to meet with President Joe Biden, members of Congress, Harris, and Trump to discuss his proposed 'victory plan.' While specifics of the plan remain unclear, Zelensky mentioned to ABC News that it focuses on "the strengthening of Ukraine" and its military efforts to compel "Putin to stop the war." He also indicated that the resolution of the conflict might be nearer than anticipated, adding, “That is why we are asking our friends, our allies, to strengthen us. It is very important.”

Trump has indicated that he will "probably" meet with Zelensky during his visit, although a specific date has yet to be set.
