Trump and Vance Clearly Disregard Taylor Swift's Endorsement of Harris

In a recent interview, Trump reflected on his previous detachment from Taylor Swift's music, stating, “I was not a Taylor Swift fan, it was just a question of time.”

Trump and Vance Clearly Disregard Taylor Swift's Endorsement of Harris
Former President Donald Trump and his Vice Presidential candidate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, appeared indifferent to Taylor Swift's endorsement of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, which Swift announced Tuesday night. Despite the influence Swift may hold, both Republican candidates minimized the impact of her backing the opposition in the upcoming 2024 elections.

The pop star publicly supported Vice President Harris following a debate with Trump, announcing her endorsement via Instagram late Tuesday night, which quickly amassed 9.3 million likes. When questioned about Swift's influence, Vance, speaking to Fox's Martha MacCallum, remarked, "We admire Taylor Swift's music, but I don't think most Americans, whether they like her music, are fans of hers or not, are going to be influenced by a billionaire celebrity who I think is fundamentally disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans.”

Vance emphasized the economic struggles average Americans face, pointing out, “When grocery prices go up 20 percent, it hurts most Americans, it doesn't hurt Taylor Swift. When housing prices become unaffordable it doesn’t affect Taylor Swift or any other billionaire. It does affect middle class Americans all over our country.”

His campaign message to women will focus on promises of a better economy and safer communities.

Conversely, Trump expressed a preference for another celebrity, Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, over Swift, who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. "I was not a Taylor Swift fan, it was just a question of time," Trump disclosed on "Fox & Friends." He further criticized Swift's political alignments, noting, “She's a very liberal person, she seems to always endorse a Democrat and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

Swift's endorsement also took a swipe at Vance by signing off as a “Childless Cat Lady,” in response to earlier comments made by Vance. Meanwhile, Harris has embraced the endorsement enthusiastically, even entering her post-debate appearance to the tune of Swift’s song "The Man," and promoting Harris Walz friendship bracelets, a nod to Swift's Eras Tour merchandise.
