Han Zheng Engages with U.S. Business Leaders to Bolster China-U.S. Relations
Chinese Vice President Han Zheng expressed on Sunday hopes that U.S. companies will persist in investing and establishing a presence in China. He emphasized their potential to serve as a bridge and contribute significantly to the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.
Han delivered these comments during a meeting with representatives from the U.S. business community, including members of the U.S.-China Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He is in Washington D.C. as a special representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping for the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, following an invitation from the U.S.
During his discussions with the U.S. business leaders, Han highlighted that President Xi and President-elect Trump came to significant mutual understandings regarding the future of China-U.S. relations during a recent phone call.
He noted that both nations possess broad common interests and significant potential for collaboration, stating that starting the bilateral relationship on a positive note and ensuring its steady progression is essential for the well-being of the citizens of both countries and aligns with the expectations of the international community.
Han underscored the vital role of the U.S. business sector in fostering China-U.S. relations, describing it as a participant, witness, contributor, and beneficiary of both countries' economic and trade cooperation, as well as of China's reform and opening-up initiatives.
He reaffirmed that China will continue its commitment to reform and opening up while persistently enhancing its business environment.
U.S. business representatives conveyed that the recent phone conversation between Trump and Xi conveyed a positive and encouraging message.
As leaders of two of the world's most dynamic and technologically advanced economies, they emphasized the importance of pursuing mutually beneficial cooperation and finding constructive and stable coexistence methods.
The U.S. business community expressed optimism toward China's economic future and development opportunities, advocating for strengthened dialogue and communication between the U.S. and China to further advance bilateral relations and economic cooperation.
Additionally, Han met with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday, indicating that China welcomes U.S. companies like Tesla to capitalize on the opportunities presented by China's growth and contribute more significantly to enhancing China-U.S. economic and trade relations.
Musk affirmed that Tesla is prepared to deepen its investments and partnerships in China, actively participating in fostering economic and trade exchanges between the two nations.
