German Police Pursue Frightened Child Holding Palestinian Flag
A video of German police apprehending a small boy during a pro-Palestine protest in Berlin has ignited significant outrage on social media.

The footage, shared online on Sunday, depicts a boy who appears to be around ten years old, holding a Palestinian flag as he runs away from a group of about six armed officers. The officers eventually catch up to him and lead him towards a police van. Throughout the encounter, the child is seen screaming in apparent terror.

Witnesses can be heard in the video yelling “shame on you” and demanding the boy's release in both German and Arabic. Many attendees at what seems to have been a peaceful rally captured the incident on their phones.

Although the video does not show the officers physically grabbing or harming the boy, it has drawn widespread criticism. Users on platforms like X, Instagram, and Facebook condemned the officers for scaring a child. One user questioned, "Do police have nothing better to do than chase a child for carrying a flag?" while another commented, “Thanks to Palestine, now we know that Western Values about humanity and freedom are false.”

Many observers drew parallels between the officers' actions and those of WWII-era Nazis, accusing Germany of complicity in the “genocide of Palestinians.”

While some suggested that the boy may have instigated the situation by provoking the police, the consensus leaned towards the belief that the officers overstepped their bounds.

“Looks like Germany is showing its old stripes again. We’ve seen this movie twice you know, I am not looking forward to the trilogy. Thank you, Palestine, for showing the people of the world what free speech and democracy look like,” another user remarked.

The specifics of the incident remain unclear, including the justification for the police's actions toward the child. So far, German media has not reported on the situation.
