"China-Africa Green Development Collaboration" Report Released in Abuja
On Thursday, a report titled "Green Development in Africa and China-Africa Green Development Collaboration" was unveiled during the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in Abuja, Nigeria.

The report was produced collaboratively by the China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Research Institute and a research team from Hunan University located in Changsha, China. It introduces the Africa Green Development Index and includes case studies of China-Africa green development projects, aiming to serve as a resource for Chinese and African partners to strengthen their cooperation in green development.

Chinese ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, commended the growing relationship between China and Nigeria and noted that the exhibition highlighted a mutual commitment to progressing in areas such as industrialization, agricultural modernization, and sustainable development in Nigeria.

According to the report, the Africa Green Development Index comprises five key indicators: ecological foundation, resource utilization, environmental governance, green assurance, and inclusive development. It also emphasizes the significant opportunities for cooperation in green development between China and African nations. Notable collaborative efforts include the "Great Green Wall of Africa" initiative, which aims to combat desertification from the Sahara Desert while delivering ecological, economic, and social benefits to millions in the region.

The report is a reflection of the consensus on boosting China-Africa green development cooperation that emerged from the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation held in Beijing this September. It underscores the goal of promoting eco-friendly modernization to elevate China-Africa green cooperation to new heights, as stated by the institute.

The event drew over 350 attendees, including government officials, business leaders, representatives from financial institutions, scholars, and media personnel from China, Nigeria, Kenya, Malawi, and other regions.
