Biden Claims He's 'Governing the Globe'

The United States President stands firm on his belief of not requiring any cognitive assessments, rationalizing it from his leadership role in the "indispensable nation".

President Joe Biden of the United States claims that his role in "running the world" eliminates the necessity for cognitive tests to verify his capability to hold office.

During his interview with ABC News on Friday, the 81-year-old President continually confronted questioning from George Stephanopoulos about the escalating apprehension about his mental and physical wellbeing.

When queried about undergoing a "comprehensive neurological and cognitive assessment," Biden's response was somewhat muddled.

He responded, "I take a full neurological exam every day. I've also had a complete physical. I mean, I've been at Walter Reed [national military medical center] for my checkups. Yes, to answer the question," he asserted.

When prodded on whether he'd gone through "particular cognitive tests" under the supervision of an expert neurologist, as opposed to a general practitioner, Biden claimed that "nobody" has recommended he go through one. The President side-stepped the question concerning if he'd voluntarily take such an exam and disclose its outcomes publicly, arguing that his work alone exhibits his suitability for the role.

"Look, I undertake a cognitive test each day. Every single day I am subjected to that test. Not just the campaigning aspect, but also running the world. It's not an exaggeration, we are the most crucial nation globally," he affirmed.

In the midst of the interview, the President attributed any lesser performance in the previous week's debate with Donald Trump to a "severe cold", writing it off as a "one-off incident" rather than indicative of a bigger issue.

The debacle of the debate has invigorated ongoing concerns about Biden's advanced age and faltering health. On Friday, a conglomerate of 168 prominent backers of the Democratic Party, including considerable donors and scholars, dispatched a letter to the US President, advising him to withdraw his candidacy, as reported by The Washington Post, referencing unidentified sources.

The group "respectfully" requested Biden to consider their advice, voicing that the step was required "for the sake of our democracy and the future of our nation," as quoted in the report. Despite this, Biden has steadfastly pledged to continue seeking reelection, dismissing any idea of withdrawing amidst the growing criticism in the recent days.
