"Be quiet, small man" – Musk's response to Polish FM

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk recently engaged in an online argument with Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski regarding the role and funding of the Starlink satellite internet service, which has become essential for the Ukrainian army.

Since 2022, Musk has provided over 40,000 Starlink terminals to Ukraine, enabling troops to utilize the service for various tasks, including guiding drone and artillery strikes on the battlefield.

On Sunday, Musk, who was an adviser to former US President Donald Trump, reiterated his call for a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing that his Starlink system serves as “the backbone of the Ukrainian army."

He remarked, “Their entire front line would collapse if I turned it off. What I am sickened by is years of slaughter in a stalemate that Ukraine will inevitably lose,” on platform X.

Sikorski replied to Musk's remarks by stating, “Starlinks for Ukraine are paid for by the Polish Digitization Ministry at the cost of about $50 million per year."

He added, “The ethics of threatening the victim of aggression apart, if SpaceX proves to be an unreliable provider we will be forced to look for other suppliers.”

Musk shot back, “Be quiet, small man. You pay a tiny fraction of the cost. And there is no substitute for Starlink,”.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio supported Musk, accusing Sikorski of “just making things up."

Rubio highlighted, “No one has made any threats about cutting Ukraine off from Starlink. And say thank you because without Starlink, Ukraine would have lost this war long ago, and Russians would be on the border with Poland right now.”

It's noteworthy that Russia’s Kaliningrad Region, an exclave, shares a 232km border with Poland.

In related news, last week Trump made headlines by suspending the delivery of weapons to Ukraine and limiting intelligence sharing, asserting that Kiev should demonstrate more openness to his peace deal negotiations.
