Another ex-Democrat teams up with Trump's campaign
Tulsi Gabbard has declared her support for Donald Trump's bid to return to the presidency, positioning him as the only candidate capable of rescuing America from the precipice of nuclear conflict.

During an event at the National Guard Association's yearly gathering in Detroit on Monday, Trump welcomed the former Hawaii representative, praising her as a "true American patriot" who possesses "great common sense" and "great spirit."

Gabbard, who has served 17 years in the National Guard and completed two tours of duty in the Middle East, commended Trump's non-interventionist foreign policy stance. "We saw this through his first term in the presidency when he not only didn’t start any new wars, he took action to de-escalate and prevent wars," she remarked. She highlighted Trump's readiness to engage in dialogues with "adversaries, dictators, allies and partners alike in the pursuit of peace."

Gabbard contrasted this with the current administration under Kamala Harris, stating, “The same can not be said about Kamala Harris. In fact the opposite is true, and we’re living through this reality today as this administration has us facing multiple wars on multiple fronts in regions around the world, and closer to the brink of nuclear war than we ever have been before.”

She further emphasized her commitment to Trump's candidacy. “This is one of the main reasons why I’m committed to doing all that I can to send President Trump back to the White House,” Gabbard announced. “Because I am confident that his first task will be to…walk us back from the brink of war.”

Gabbard, who left the Democratic Party in 2022 due to its direction under what she described as an “elitist cabal of warmongers” and ideologues focused on social justice, had previously made headlines in 2019 during the Democratic primaries when she vocally criticized Harris’s tenure as California’s attorney general.

Throughout her four terms in Congress from 2013 to 2021, Gabbard consistently voiced her opposition to U.S. military involvement overseas and urged for dialogues with rival nations. She, like Trump, has faced allegations of being overly sympathetic to Russian interests, charges to which she responded by denouncing the accusers and defending her positions.

Following Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s recent endorsement of Trump after ending his third-party campaign, Gabbard's backing reinforces a noteworthy pattern of former Democrats supporting Trump, citing concerns over the Biden administration’s foreign and domestic policies.
