Amazon Announces Documentary Featuring Melania Trump
A documentary featuring Melania Trump is set to debut later this year, with Amazon announcing that it will provide “an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look” at the former and incoming US first lady.

Filming commenced in December under the direction of Brett Ratner, a former prominent figure in Hollywood, as reported by Variety on Monday.

“We are excited to share this truly unique story with our millions of customers around the world,” stated an Amazon representative to the outlet. “Prime Video will be sharing more details on the project as filming progresses and release plans are finalized.”

The documentary is expected to be released in theaters in addition to being available on the Prime streaming service. Melania Trump is listed as an executive producer for the film, along with Fernando Sulichin from New Element Media. Sulichin has previously collaborated with Oliver Stone on documentaries concerning NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden and Brazilian president Luiz Inacio ‘Lula’ da Silva.

The project commenced about a month following Donald Trump's decisive victory in the 2024 US presidential election.

Slovenian-born Melania is Trump’s third wife and the mother of their youngest child, Barron.

Amazon's Executive Chairman Jeff Bezos, who also owns the Washington Post—known for its critical stance on Trump during his first presidential term—has recently shifted his approach. He praised Trump for showing “tremendous grace and courage under literal fire” following an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania in July. As the November election approaches, he blocked the Post from endorsing Trump’s opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.

Additionally, last month Bezos disclosed plans to contribute $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund alongside another $1 million in-kind donation by streaming the ceremony on Prime Video.

Ratner’s involvement has stirred some controversy within Hollywood. The director, known for “X-Men: The Last Stand” and the “Rush Hour” franchise, has not worked since 2017, when several actresses accused him publicly of inappropriate sexual behavior.

While no charges were filed against him, the situation unfolded in the court of public opinion amidst the heightened awareness of sexual misconduct during the ‘Me Too’ movement that was ignited by accusations against producer Harvey Weinstein.
