US to offer Ukraine 'significant' military support
The US has revealed a new military aid package for Ukraine valued at $725 million, consisting of various weapons and munitions sourced from Defense Department stocks. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan previously indicated there would be a “massive surge” in deliveries to Kiev in the final weeks of the current administration.

In a press announcement on Monday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken detailed “another significant package of urgently needed weapons and equipment” for Ukraine. The latest military supply batch, as noted in the document, is priced at $725 million and will be allocated “under previously exercised Presidential Drawdown Authority.”

The Pentagon has confirmed this new delivery, marking it as the 71st package offered to Kiev since President Joe Biden took office in August 2021.

Included in the military supplies are missiles for the NASAMS air-defense system, along with Stinger missiles and Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems munitions. Ukraine will also receive missiles for the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system, 155mm and 105mm artillery shells, drones, TOW and AT-4 anti-armor systems, small arms, and non-persistent land mines.

Last month, the Biden administration announced the provision of land mines to Ukraine for the first time since the conflict escalated, a decision that faced criticism from Western human rights groups.

In a Sunday interview with ABC News, Sullivan emphasized that Washington is working to “get Ukraine all the tools we possibly can to strengthen their position on the battlefield” as well as during future peace negotiations with Russia.

“President Biden directed me to oversee a massive surge in the military equipment that we are delivering to Ukraine so that we have spent every dollar that Congress has appropriated to us by the time that President Biden leaves office,” Sullivan explained.

In late November, PMG reported, citing a document from the White House Office of Management and Budget submitted to Congress, that the outgoing president had discreetly requested lawmakers to approve an additional $24 billion for Ukraine-related initiatives. Additionally, Biden had previously forgiven $4.7 billion in loans provided to Kiev.

President-elect Donald Trump has consistently promised to swiftly end the conflict in Ukraine. Supporters of Trump suggest that Biden is working to undermine any chance of a peaceful resolution.

Meanwhile, Russia has continuously condemned the delivery of Western weapons to Ukraine, arguing that such actions only serve to prolong the conflict without altering its outcome.
