US Republicans Claim Zelensky is Campaigning for Harris
House members have urged the Pentagon to investigate Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky's recent visit to Pennsylvania, which Republican officials have characterized as a political "stunt" that interferes with U.S. electoral politics.

During the trip, Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro escorted Zelensky on a tour of the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant, where the two signed 155mm artillery shells that are expected to be sent to Ukrainian troops. Republican officials voiced their concerns not only about the photo opportunity but also about Zelensky’s interview with the New Yorker, where he targeted former President Donald Trump and Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, both Republican nominees in the upcoming presidential election.

“Zelensky is openly campaigning for Democrats in battleground Pennsylvania today some 50 days out from our Presidential election. Unreal,” Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt stated on X.

On a local radio show, Pennsylvania Representative John Joyce described the visit as “a political stunt,” citing its “suspect” timing.

A group of nine House representatives, led by Texas Congressman Lance Gooden, is calling for an inquiry into Zelensky's trip. They noted that the Ukrainian leader arrived in Pennsylvania aboard a U.S. Air Force C-17 military aircraft and received Secret Service protection—both funded by U.S. taxpayers. In a letter to Pentagon Inspector General Robert Storch, the GOP lawmakers expressed concern about the use of these resources, suggesting they may have been deployed for purposes not related to U.S. national security or diplomatic relations, but rather for a politically consequential visit before a major U.S. election.

Gooden criticized Zelensky’s approach and questioned his decision to risk alienating Republican supporters during an interview with Fox News.

“Why is he [Zelensky] not on his knees thanking Americans, Republicans and Democrats, for the sacrifices they’ve made for his nation? And how dare he come into our nation and opine on any election, much less the presidential race?” Gooden remarked on 'The Ingraham Angle' program.

Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris has been making efforts to engage the significant Polish-American voter population in Pennsylvania, emphasizing the support for Ukraine under the current administration as a means to protect Poland.

Zelensky stated that his trip to the U.S. included attendance at the UN General Assembly in New York and a meeting with President Joe Biden, where he planned to present a "victory plan" to counter Russia.
