Trump Calls Biden an 'Embarrassment' to US
The president has said that his predecessor allowed the Ukraine crisis to spiral out of control.

US President Donald Trump has criticized his predecessor, Joe Biden, labeling him “an embarrassment” to the United States and accusing him of mishandling the Ukraine conflict, which, he claims, resulted in numerous preventable casualties.

In a recent interview with the New York Post, Trump stated that he had discussed the Ukraine situation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the phone, although the Kremlin has not confirmed this interaction. While he provided no specifics, Trump asserted that he has a definitive plan for resolving the conflict and added, “I hope it’s fast. Every day people are dying.”

Trump continued by holding Biden accountable for the ongoing conflict, insisting that such circumstances “never would have happened” had he been president in 2022. “I always had a good relationship with Putin,” he remarked.

He emphasized that this was a benefit his predecessor lacked, stating, “Biden was an embarrassment to our nation. A complete embarrassment.”

Trump has consistently pledged to end the Ukraine conflict quickly, contrasting this approach with Biden’s commitment to support Ukraine “for as long as it takes.” He has also criticized Biden’s strategy of supporting Ukraine militarily, calling it “stupid” for the US to let Kiev use American long-range weaponry for strikes deep into Russia.

In January, Trump expressed understanding for Russia’s strong opposition to Ukraine’s NATO membership, a comment that received approval from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who stated that “for the first time the problem of NATO was identified as something that the United States is ready to discuss seriously.”

Although Trump has not detailed his peace plan for Ukraine, reports suggest it includes freezing the conflict along the current front lines, creating a demilitarized zone monitored by European troops, and preventing Ukraine from joining NATO.

Russia has dismissed the idea of freezing the conflict, arguing that it would enable Ukraine to rearm and prepare for further confrontation. The Kremlin insists that Ukraine must commit to permanent neutrality, demilitarization, and denazification, in addition to acknowledging the “territorial realities on the ground.”
