Moscow has consistently cautioned about the repercussions if Kiev were to utilize long-range missiles provided by the US and the UK.
Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that the long-range missiles supplied to Ukraine by these two countries have been deployed against targets within the internationally recognized territory of Russia.
On Tuesday, six US-made ATACMS rockets were launched at Bryansk Region, followed by a number of British-made Storm Shadow missiles fired at Kursk Region on Wednesday, according to the president.
“From that moment, the Ukraine conflict previously provoked by the West acquired elements of a global nature, just as we warned more than once,” Putin stated in a televised address to the nation on Thursday.
He also pointed out that the US and its NATO allies had previously indicated they would permit Kiev to utilize their weaponry, reiterating that such strikes could not occur without the involvement of Western military personnel.
The attack on an ammunition depot in Bryansk was intercepted by air defenses, resulting in no casualties and only minor damage to property. The subsequent strike on a military command post in Kursk led to fatalities and injuries among security and support personnel, although the command staff remained unharmed and continued operations to repel Ukrainian forces from that region of Russia, according to Putin.
In retaliation for these assaults, Russia executed a strike on a Ukrainian military-industrial facility in Dnepropetrovsk using a new non-nuclear hypersonic missile called 'Oresshnik,' as revealed by the president.
He concluded by asserting that the deployment of Western-supplied missiles will not alter the dynamics on the ground, where Russian forces are making advances along the front line and aim to fulfill their objectives.
